Pick up your commutative Greenville 175th Birthday Celebration insert in the Bangor Daily Newspaper 8/11/11
A small group of citizens have noted that
2011 is the 175
th
anniversary of Greenville’s incorporation – February 8, 1836, to be exact.
What a great time to note this milestone in our town’s
history and generate
some activities that are fun and positiv
excitement in our lives!
In the past, some folks were pioneers, some were laborers, others were business men and women - and all were dreamers! Recognizing beauty and bountiful resources, they came here to settle down and raise families. Some present citizens are
now descendents of those early settlers and are still proud to say they are “from Greenville”.
We are now the keepers of Greenville’s history and have the challenge to maintain and grow our community. Any way that we can appreciate the past, meet the challenges of the present (and enjoy doing it), as well as look to the future with hope and excitement,
is a good thing
.
(borrowed from Martha Stewart!)
We wish to
focus on the week of August 20-28 for a whole week of excitement
at a time when we could use more fun!
