C.A. DEAN AMBULANCE SERVICE
Annual Report

To the Citizens and Officials of the Town of Greenville:

The C.A. Dean Ambulance crew is still working hard to meet the needs of the community by increasing our staff and upgrading our licenses. We are currently operating with three paramedics, two Intermediate EMT's, 12 Basic EMT's and four drivers. John Simko has recently completed an Intermediate EMT program and will soon be able to operate at the Intermediate level. We hope to offer a basic EMT course in the near future to further increase our staff.

The cooperation we have received from Greenville, Rockwood and Monson fire departments, the Greenville Police Department the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office and the C.A. Dean medical staff has enabled us to respond more effectively to the difficult emergencies we have encountered. We would like to pass along the crew's sincere appreciation for all the help that these folks have provided.

We are working with the LifeFlight of Maine to better serve those critically injured patients. A new helipad has been installed at C.A. Dean, which is equipped with lights and a windsock. A special thanks to the Moosehead Lake Kiwanis Club and all the other individuals for their help and support in completing this important project. We have also worked with LifeFlight to locate 14 permanent landing zones around the Moosehead Lake area to expedite critically injured patients more quickly. The purchase of a type III, 4-wheel drive ambulance has also proven to be very effective in severe weather conditions and helps provide a more efficient work area because of its larger capacity.

Our working relationship with the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife continues to grow stronger and is a huge part of our success, especially when getting patients out of remote areas. We would like to express our thanks to the local wardens for all their support.

On a personal note, I would like to express my pride and gratitude in working with the dedicated individuals on our ambulance service. The numerous hours on call, and the many times they have had to leave their families in the middle of the night, shows their desire to serve this community.

DAVE BOUCHARD, WEMT-P
Ambulance Coordinator
