Lily Bay State Park was a favorite of ours in the 70s for camping with our 2 kids.  We also loved taking the Katahdin for an excursion out onto Moosehead Lake over 15 years ago and hope to do that again very soon.  This area has got to be one of the most beautiful in Maine.

Hi - We just bought a house on Wilson View Dr and are excited about spending our retirement years in such a wonderful area. I have relatives in Greenville that I haven't seen in years - anybody know them perhaps? My uncle (Donald Blair) died about 10 years ago but my aunt lives off Pleasant street and my cousins live somewhere nearby.

I used to visit Maine every year from about 1978-1990 for my vacation. I spent 2 weeks fishing and camping in the Katahdin State Park and in the Greenville area. I always enjoyed the clean air and beautiful scenery. Now that I am retired I may visit again someday.

Hello from England !

I stumbled upon the website and was wondering whether I might ask people from the Greenville area for help.

We fell in love with Maine years ago and have always loved our visits and we remember Greenville and Moosehead lake with a lot of pleasure as found the scenery stunning and the locals to be so friendly. We have decided to get married in New England next year and Greenville is top of our list so far as we have fallen in love with the Blair Hill Inn. We haven't quite decided yet as getting our guests that far North could be a problem but if we do I was wondering apart from the beautiful grounds of the Inn, whether there were particularly pretty places for the ceremony ? Also is there anywhere in the area where we could hire a vintage or antique car for the day or maybe a horse and carriage ? How could I find details of any Jazz bands etc... I have googled a lot and come up with nothing !

Our wedding will be very small but trying to organise remotely from a different continent is quite difficult and it is made by harder by so many beautiful places in NE.

Any suggestions gladly welcome, you all live in a beautiful part of the world and we very much look forward to visiting Moosehead Lake again.

Hi everyone. I've been looking around your town's website and I must say, it is gorgeous! Much nicer than anything in my area. I'd like to incorporate into a novel that I am currently working on. It's my first novel and I plan to Greenville the center of the story and where most of the plot evolves around.

However, I would love to do this as honestly and possibly. Before getting the chance to actually visit Greenville in person (which will, hopefully, be this summer!), I am trying to get as much research done on the town as I can. Naturally though it is difficult to get a true feel for the community through the internet. I was hoping that anyone living in Greenville, or anyone who has lived there, would be willing to maybe give me a feel of Greenville's sense of community. What do the locals do for entertainment? What are the neighborhoods like? Is it a tight-knit community (but from what I've seen online, it certainly appears to be!)?

Those answers and anything at all about Greenville (any interesting folklore, stories, etc?) would be immensely appreciated!

I am most easily reached at the email that I provided at the top of this post. Thank you so much, and I look forward to visiting this summer!

I'm Marcia Heller from Pennsylvania. I've spent many wonderful days in Greenville when my daughter, Denise taught music there. I love Greenville and even though I never lived there I feel "at home" when I visit. We visited last summer; stayed in a motel on the lake and had a great time. We'll be back. My granddaughter, Kendra has a tree planted at the hospital because she wa born there. Beautiful place where the woods really smells like pine. Love it!

I visited Greenville for the first time in the late 70's and have been back to visit numerous times. It's just a beautiful place!
If by chance there still is a Harold F Blanchard in the area, we say hello!
It's been a very long time but we still speak fondly of our escapades (broken bridges, jeeps, quail for breakfast, Danny in the corvette, OOB) and the true fun we had in Greenville. The last time we heard from Harold he was in Torrance, CA. Thinking about the area again!- Donna and Wanda
