GREENVILLE - Thanks to the generosity of the IBM Corporation, C. A. Dean Nursing Home residents now have access to a new IBM Think Pad laptop. This very generous donation was coordinated through IBM employee and C. A. Dean volunteer Sharon Hastings via an established Community Grants Program through IBM. The concept of surfing the web or communicating via email is a new concept to all the residents at C. A. Dean but one that they look forward to exploring thanks to this program. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our residents," said Tom Murray, C. A. Dean Nursing Home Administrator. "Through this new technology, residents can have access to email accounts to keep in contact with relatives across the country, or to conduct research and play games on the internet. The residents and staff are very thankful to Sharon and IBM for this wonderful gift," continued Murray. This latest technology for the nursing home is part of a larger project to upgrade technology across C. A. Dean Memorial Hospital & Nursing Home. In conjunction with EMHS, C. A. Dean Memorial Hospital is moving forward with the implementation of an electronic medical record in the hospital and Northwoods Healthcare offices in early 2008. This technology will allow shared access of records across EMHS to assist providers in providing their patients the highest quality care possible through the shared resources and specialists across the system.
