Make a Blanket Day
Tuesday, February 05, 2008
Dover-Foxcroft – Come make a security blanket to donate to Project Linus! Make A Blanket Day for The Project Linus Chapters of Penobscot, Piscataquis and Somerset Counties and Kennebec, Franklin, Waldo and Knox Counties will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Penquis Higher Education Center, 50 Mayo Street, Dover-Foxcroft.

The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need, through the gifts of new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans, lovingly crafted by volunteer blanketeers. Maine Project Linus chapters have donated more than 12,000 blankets for Maine kids since coming to Maine in 1998.

Blankets for children in need will be assembled during Make a Blanket Day. Our goal is to complete or collect 100 blankets. Everyone is invited to join in the fun between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Community involvement is vital to the success of this event. Three free quilt classes will be offered – an easy quilt-as-you-go strip quilt, a strip flannel quilt, and a fun endless four-patch block.

Fabrics will be provided but please bring your own machine. Your donation of blanket making supplies is also welcome. You can choose to work on your own or with a buddy, choose your project, or bring along one to finish.

Call 965-8005 to reserve your space. The Women's Fellowship, Congregational Church will be providing breakfast and lunch for which they will accept donations.
