Chili/Chowder Cookoff a hearty success
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
By JONATHAN PRATT - GREENVILLE - The Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club played host to their 6th Annual Chili/Chowder Cookoff on Friday, February 15. The event was held at the clubhouse on Scammon Road, and by all accounts, was quite a success.

Members of the Greenville High School Key Club were on hand to dish out the goods, with each entrant being given a Station Number, so the event was essentially a blind taste test, and thus keeping the voting as fair as possible. Once the votes were all counted, the winners were Rod-N-Reel Cafe (Station #1) won for the Best Chili. The Lodge at Moosehead (Station #10) won for Best Chowder.

The unofficial head count was 125 people, and there was standing room only at times.

Moosehead Riders Club Member, and Volunteer, Denise McCormick went on to say "We would like to thank all of the restaurants for taking part, and of course, the volunteers who helped make the event possible."

Participating eateries were Rod-N-Reel Cafe, Lodge at Moosehead, Kelly's Landing, Spring Creek BBQ, Stress Free Moose, Trailside Restaurant, Soup's On and Flatlander's Pub.

Organizations and individuals assisting in the event were Greenville High School Key Club, Nancy Higgins, Katahdin Printing, Home Workshop, Holly Hersey, Moosehead Riders Volunteers and Indian Hill Supermarket.
