The second request is in the amount of $250,000, and would be used for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Junction Wharf as it had been originally planned.
The third request is also in the amount of $250,000, and would be used for the construction of a 2,500 square foot Natural Resource Education and Visitor Center, which would house the Natural Resource Education Center, the Moosehead Lake Region Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Visitor Center.
According to PCEDC Executive Director Thomas Kittredge, “These three worthwhile projects will benefit the Town of Greenville and the surrounding region tremendously. The rehabilitation of the Greenville Junction Wharf and the construction of the Natural Resource Education and Visitor Center will help to retain and create jobs in the tourism and recreation industries, while the addition to the Shaw Public library will increase accessibility for both residents and visitors to this vital community asset.”
These requests were submitted to the office of Congressman Michael Michaud at the end of January, and to the offices of Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins at the end of February. A decision on them will not be expected until late 2009.
