Celebrate Spring Soup and Sandwich Luncheon
Monday, April 24, 2006
It's time to celebrate the arrival of Spring in the North Woods! The Shirley Community Church will host its first "Celebrate Spring Soup and Sandwich Luncheon" on Saturday, May 6 at the church, and everyone is invited!

The luncheon will feature a variety of homemade soups and chowders, including fiddlehead soup, hamburg and vegetable soup, seafood chowder and corn chowder. All of these are being prepared by some of the best cooks in the Moosehead region, and are guaranteed to delight the palate, no matter whether the weather is hot or cold. Also on the menu will be homemade egg salad, ham salad, and ham and cheese sandwiches. And don't forget a wide array of dessert bars and other goodies!

There will also be May baskets filled with delicious homemade fudge on sale and who knows what else? The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shirley Community Church's Fellowship Hall. The cost is $5 per person.

This is the first annual Celebrate Spring Soup and Sandwich Lunchon, and is part of the church's centennial celebrations. To reach the church from the south, turn on the Lower Shirley Corner Road and follow it to the church on the hill past Shirley Pond. From the north, turn right on the Upper Shirley Corner Road and follow it to the church. For more information, contact Colleen Ashe at 695-2517 or Janet Parker at 695-3163.
