Greenville's Kids Fishing Derby attracts 56 young anglers

GREENVILLE - The 6th annual Kids Fishing Derby was held Saturday, May 19, at Pit Pond. In all, 56 kids entered the derby. A total of 15 fish were caught. A lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and desserts was provided to the kids and their families. Prizes were presented to the top three places for the largest fish and in the casting contest. All participants received a gift.

The results are as follows:

LARGEST FISH:
1. Aubrey Kronholm (14.5 inches)
2. Juliana Hayes (14.25 inches)
3. Dan Brady (13 inches)
4. Rickey Derboghosian (13 inches).

CASTING CONTEST: (closest to target)
1. Stefanie Thornton (22 inches)
2. Michael Degnan (35 inches)
3. Sam Murray (44 inches)

The Greenvile Parks and Recreation Department thanks the following for their contributions to this wonderful event: Chief Duane Alexander, Rene Hersey, Nan Pelletier, Big Lake Equipment, Kineo Flies, Morrell's Ace Hardware, Northeast Food Service, Maine Guide Fly Shop, Kokadjo Store, The Store, Kelly's Landing, Indian Hill Trading Post, Village Foodmart, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, everyone who provided baked goods.
