Moosehead Historical Museum's annual holiday shopping trip
Wednesday, September 03, 2003
GREENVILLE - With the arrival of cooler temperatures and fall color, it's time for the Moosehead Historical Museum's annual holiday shopping trip to the largest shopping center in eastern Canada and something extra for those not wanting to shop.

The day trip will be offered on Tuesday, September 23, with pickup points in Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford, Abbot, Monson, Greenville and Rockwood.

This popular trip will include time on your own for shopping at the Place Laurier in Quebec City. Covering several city blocks on three levels, the Place Laurier is a huge shopping center with nearly 300 stores and services.

For those not wanting to shop, a side trip to Montmorency Falls, a waterfall higher than Niagara Falls, will be offered.

Earlier, those traveling will have lunch at the Tomas Tam Oriental Buffet in Quebec City. The lunch, which is included in your ticket price, includes a wide variety of dishes not limited to Oriental.

Following the shopping expedition, the group will head to the Vauchon Bakery in St. Marie, a popular stop to load up on French pastries and other goodies such as jams and jellies. After that, a stop will be made at Father Nature, a combination vegetable market, French cheese shop and market in St. Georges.

Cost of the trip is $50 per person, and that includes transportation and lunch. The Moosehead Historical Museum charters air-conditioned motorcoaches from Cyr Bus Line, and coaches are equipped with bathrooms.

This popular trip likely will sell out quickly, so reservations should be made as soon as possible by calling 695-2909. If no one is in the office, leave a message on the phone recorder and your call will be returned. After confirming your reservation, payment should be sent to the Moosehead Historical Museum, P.O. Box 1116, Greenville, ME 04441.

A few seats are still available on the September 17-18 overnight trip to Fredericton, New Brunswick and King's Landing at a cost of $130 double occupancy or $180 single occupancy. An earlier trip on September 11 and 12 is sold out.
