Thursday, October 25, 2001 Greenville - The Natural Resource Education Center will bring "An Acoustic Tour of Piscataquis County", with Sid Stutzman and the Doughty Hill Band to the Greenville High School Auditorium on November 15 at 7:00 PM. In this 45-minute presentation, the heritage-based music of the Doughty Hill Band is complimented by slide images and photographs of past and present day Piscataquis County. Sid Stutzman is a well-known professional musician from Sangerville who has been writing songs for over 25 years about the history, people, places, and nature found in modern day and past Piscataquis County (including songs titled "Kineo", "Stream Communities", "The Marriage of Dover and Foxcroft", and "Moose Blues"). Sid has recorded two albums with the Doughty Hill Band which consists of Sid on guitar, mandolin, and vocals, Ron Hall on lead guitar, bass, and vocals, Sunny Stutzman on bass, saxophone, harmonica, and vocals, and Tracy Stutzman on percussion and vocals. The original presentation of "An Acoustic Tour of Piscataquis County", to regional schools, was supported by the Maine Arts Commission, Quebec Labrador Foundation, and sponsored by the Cultural Heritage and Eco-tourism Committee of the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council. This program is geared to help build pride and awareness in the unique and interesting cultural heritage of our hometown region of Maine. There is no charge for the program; donations to the Natural Resource Education Center would be appreciated. These donations help to offset the costs of our program schedule.
